When we ask parents and Carers what they want for their children, they invariably reply “To be happy and safe, to do well and to get good results,” usually in that order.
Our pastoral care arrangements have been made to make the best use of all the available resources and to place the individual pupil at the heart of that process.
Vertical tutoring, rather that ‘traditional’ year groups, brings with it:
- more positive learning relationships
- increased opportunities for pupils
- the development of a ‘family’ atmosphere
- better use of pupils’ peer mentoring skills
- more positive use of teacher time
- smaller sizer pastoral groups
- effecitve use of positive role models
- greater feasibility for movement between groups.
Potential pupils and parents will be asked about who they would most (and least!) like to be placed with. Vetical tutoring is a logical organisational development from ourprevious Transition Action Group and Peer Reading schemes.
